About Dr. Jay Hislop
Dr. Jay M. Hislop lives with his wife Gail in Stockton, California, where he is an attorney in his own law firm, and the President and Consulting Director of the Echelon Consulting Group, an innovative business management consulting company. Dr. Hislop left a successful clinical dental practice in 1997 due to a rare genetic disorder of peripheral nerve degeneration that made clinical dental practice impossible because of loss of dexterity in his hands. He is otherwise able-bodied, and considered by most to be of sound mind. Jay Graduated in May, 2000 as Valedictorian of his law school class at Humphreys College School of Law. Jay is a 1974 graduate of the University of California, Berkeley (“Cal”) with a bachelor degree in ecology.
Jay graduated with Honors from the UCLA School of Dentistry in 1978. During his dental career, Jay trained as an emergency room physician in Fresno, where he completed a Residency in Hospital Dentistry. He worked in public health with the First Nations People of Saskatchewan, where he designed and facilitated massive dental services delivery programs, and disease prevention programs on a regional scale. He has consulted on logistics for immunization and wellness programs and administered immunizations to children through his Rotary volunteer work. Jay taught advanced dental technology at the L.D. Pankey Institute of Advanced Dental Education in Key Biscayne, (Miami), Florida, where he also served on the Board of Trustees, and later assisted in reorganization of the Institute, and served thereafter on its newly formed Board of Directors. He was Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, President, of San Joaquin Dental Society, a component of the California Dental Association, and twice editor of the San Joaquin Dental Society newsletter.

After this diverse career in dentistry, non-profit organization governance and management, business management, and law, Dr. Hislop is also a Court Mediator uniquely qualified to mediate matters of professional malpractice, business disputes, insurance disputes, and human resource issues, as well as a variety of other unique disputes.
Jay and Gail have two adult daughters, Jenny Hislop, Masters in Counseling Psychology, John F. Kennedy University, Campbell, CA, and Kristen Hislop, MESM, Master of Environmental Science and Management, Bren School of Environmental Science and Management.
Jay is Past President (2016-2017) of the North Stockton Rotary Club, where he has been a member since 1984.
